The Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Indians will meet up on the MLB diamond to kick off their series on Tuesday.

Cincinnati is coming out of a weekend set versus the Phillies. The Reds fell in the Friday game 4-2 and the Saturday game 4-1, but were able to avoid the sweep in that one with a 4-3 Sunday win.

For the Monday game, the Reds will be going with Luis Castillo in the start. Over his 75.2 innings and 6-1 record this year, Castillo has a 2.38 ERA with 90 Ks and 36 BBs.

Over on the Indians’ side, they’re fresh off a series with the Yankees. Cleveland took the Friday game (5-2) and the Saturday game (8-4) in that one. On Sunday after climbing back from a steep deficit, the Indians couldn’t finish off the sweep, falling 7-6 in extras.

Cleveland is sending out Trevor Bauer for the start on Monday. In his 91.2 innings and 4-6 record this year, Bauer has a 3.93 ERA with 103 Ks and 40 BBs.

The Reds are 4-1 in their last five after an off day and 22-45 in their last 67 road games. Cincinnati is 2-5 in their last seven overall and 5-16 in their last 21 after a win.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 1-5 in Bauer’s last six home starts and 0-4 in his last four starts. Cleveland is 5-1 in Bauer’s last six starts in game one of a series and 12-4 in their last 16 Tuesday games.

Castillo has a couple of good starts in his last pair, with three earned on eight hits in 11.1 innings  combined there. Overall he’s been a key presence in the Reds rotation and should continue to pitch well here.

As for Bauer, he’s been solid with 21.0 innings and nine earned over his last three starts, but he’s also lost four straight outings.

The number here isn’t great, but this still seems like a good spot for the Reds to come in behind Castillo and bag a (still close-to-home) road win.
