Cleveland Indians -240 / Detroit Tigers +220 O/U: 9.5
The Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians will be matching up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Wednesday.
In the Monday opener, the Indians logged an 8-6 win. On Tuesday, Cleveland kept on rolling with an 8-0 win.
For the Wednesday game, the Tigers will be sending out Spencer Turnbull in the start. Across 92.2 innings and a 3-8 mark so far, Turnbull has a 3.59 ERA with 85 Ks and 37 BBs.
Detroit only put up one hit in the Tuesday loss, failing to do much of anything against four different pitchers. Nick Castellanos posted the lone hit for the Tigers there.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Mike Clevinger in the start Wednesday. This season in 29.1 innings and a 2-2 record, Clevinger has put up a 3.99 ERA with 46 Ks and 12 walks.
Cleveland’s pitching was on point in the win Tuesday, and their offense was pretty solid as well, with nine hits on the night. Oscar Mercado had a two-run homer in the second inning for the Indians in that victory.
The Tigers are 17-38 in their last 55 Wednesday games and 7-20 in their last 27 in game three of a series. Detroit is 1-4 in Turnbull’s last five road starts and 0-6 in his last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 36-16 in their last 52 Wednesday games and 56-27 in their last 83 in game three of a series. Cleveland is 8-2 in Clevinger’s last 10 home starts and 4-1 in his last five Wednesday starts.
Turnbull hasn’t had a whole lot of luck on the mound lately, as he’s 0-4 in his last six starts and hasn’t logged a win since May 31. His last time up, Turnbull allowed four earned on four hits in 3.0 innings.
As for Clevinger, he had two consecutive ugly starts in June (12 earned in 6.1 innings) but since has put up just one earned in 11.0 innings over his last pair.
I like Clevinger a little better in this scenario so I’m going Indians here, but the line is pretty thick so I’m staying away.
