Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

Headed our way Thursday from Progressive Field, the Houston Astros and the Cleveland Indians will be kicking off their weekend MLB series.

The Astros are coming off a two-game set versus the Giants. Houston won 11-2 on Tuesday then on Wednesday, the Astros bagged a 4-1 win.

For the Thursday opener, the Astros are going with Charlie Morton. In his 55.2 innings and 6-0 record this year, Morton has a 1.94 ERA with 70 Ks.

Jose Altuve leads the way for the Astros this year, coming into Wednesday with 63 hits, 24 runs and 22 RBI. On Wednesday, Altuve posted a run.

As for the Indians, they just finished up against the Cubs. Cleveland won 10-1 on Tuesday, then in Wednesday’s game, the Indians eked out a 1-0 win.

Cleveland is going with Mike Clevinger in the Thursday game. In his 59.2 innings and 3-1 record this year, Clevinger has a 2.87 ERA with 50 Ks and 18 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Indians is Francisco Lindor with 58 hits, 38 runs, 12 homers and 27 RBI entering the Cubs finale. On Wednesday, Lindor went 2-for-4.

The Astros are 5-1 in their last six road games and 5-1 in their last six versus the AL Central. Houston is also 4-1 in their last five Thursday games and 5-2 in their last seven in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 41-14 in their last 55 Thursday games and 10-4 in their last 14 home games following a road trip of a week or more. Cleveland is also 1-4 in Clevinger’s last five starts and 8-3 in his last 11 home starts.

This should be an interesting series; these teams met just last weekend, and Houston took two of the three. The Astros outscored Cleveland 11-7 in that series, with five of the Indians’ runs coming in their lone win. Clevinger allowed three earned on eight hits in 6.1 innings in his game during that set, and I can’t find too many reasons not to think Houston will take advantage again here. I’ll take the Astros.

Houston Astros -120
