Cleveland Indians -137 / Minnesota Twins +127 O/U: 8.5
The Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians will match up for another installment of their MLB set on Wednesday.
In the opener on Tuesday, the Indians peppered in runs over the course of the game to arrive at a 5-2 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Twins will be going with Martin Perez in the start. Over his 60.2 innings and 7-2 mark so far, Perez has a 3.71 ERA with 59 Ks and 28 BBs.
Minnesota put up five hits on Tuesday. Marwin Gonzalez was the only Twins player with more than one knock; he had two hits with a solo homer.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re sending out Carlos Carrasco on Wednesday. Across 65.0 innings and a 4-6 record so far, Carrasco has a 4.98 ERA with 79 Ks and 11 BBs.
Cleveland had some pretty good offensive plays in the Tuesday win, but the undisputed hero was Francisco Lindor, who bagged a double, two homers and three RBI.
The Twins are 6-0 in their last six in game two of a series and 8-2 in their last 10 Wednesday games. Minnesota is 5-1 in Perez’s last six starts on grass and 6-2 in his last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 22-8 in their last 30 Wednesday games and 22-8 in Carrasco’s last 30 Wednesday starts. Cleveland is 2-5 in Carrasco’s last seven starts with five days’ rest and 35-16 in his last 51 versus the AL Central.
Perez has some pretty solid numbers so far (though his K/BB ratio could be better). That said, he stumbled a bit in Tampa his last time out with six earned on six hits in 2.2 innings.
As for Carrasco, he’s given up 11 earned on 19 hits over 12.2 innings in his last pair, and has lost three straight starts.
This one could shape up to be a nice pitching matchup if both guys are on, but I have to stick with Perez and Minnesota in this installment of the “Twindians” series.
