New York Yankees at Cleveland Indians
|Date & Time||Friday June 7, 2019, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
Cleveland Indians +102 / New York Yankees -112 O/U: 9
The New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians will meet up on the MLB diamond Friday to open their weekend set.
New York is coming off a series versus the Blue Jays. The Yankees lost 4-3 on Tuesday and 11-7 Wednesday, then in the Thursday finale New York prevented the sweep with a 6-2 win that got a little dicey at the end.
For Friday’s game, the Yankees will be going with RHP Domingo German in the start. German is having a good year for New York with a 9-1 record, a 3.66 ERA and 71 Ks so far.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re fresh out of a set against Minnesota. Cleveland won 5-2 Tuesday and 9-7 Wednesday in that series, then Thursday the Indians lost a tough one 5-4.
Coming out for the Indians in the Friday game will be Zach Plesac. Across his 0-1 record so far Plesac has a 1.46 ERA with nine Ks.
New York is 13-3 in their last 16 Friday games and 7-2 in their last nine versus the AL Central. The Yankees are 42-17 in their last 59 in game one of a series and 2-5 in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 12-5 in their last 17 versus the AL East and 1-4 in the last five in game one of a series. The under is 5-0-1 in Cleveland’s last six Friday games and they’re 2-8 in their last 10 meetings versus the Yankees.
This is looking like a solid pitching matchup between two guys who could make big differences for their teams down the stretch. German’s pitch count was a little high in his last appearance versus Boston (87 in 3.2 innings), and Plesac doesn’t have a decision yet, but neither of those things should be too alarming. I’m going Yankees here, so long as the bullpen is on point.
