Cleveland Indians -101 / Oakland Athletics -109 O/U: 9
The Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Indians will meet up on the MLB diamond to finish up their series Wednesday.
In the opener of this set Monday, the A’s took a 6-4 win. On Tuesday, Oakland made it two in a row with a 5-3 victory.
For the Wednesday game, the A’s will be sending out Frankie Montas in the start. In his 54.0 innings and 5-2 mark this year, Montas has a 2.67 ERA with 52 Ks and 11 BBs.
Oakland managed seven hits on Tuesday, and perhaps the biggest one came from Mark Canha, who socked a pinch-hit two-run homer in the third.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Jefry Rodriguez in the starting role Wednesday. In his 31.1 innings and 1-3 record so far, Rodriguez has a 3.45 ERA with 20 Ks and nine walks.
Two of the Indians’ three runs and a pair of their five hits came via solo homer on Tuesday in the loss. Both Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor hit one with the bases empty.
The A’s are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series. Oakland is 5-2 in Montas’ last seven starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 21-7 in their last 28 Wednesday games and 47-23 in their last 70 in game three of a series. The under is 4-1 in Cleveland’s last five in game three of a series and 36-14-2 in their last 52 Wednesday games.
Montas has been on a nice run lately. He’s sitting on three straight quality starts, allowing five earned in a span of 20.2 innings. The drawback there is that Montas has only one win in that time.
As for Rodriguez, he had a string of three quality starts snapped in a four-earned loss May 17, going 6.2 innings versus Baltimore.
I like Rodriguez to bounce back and pitch well here, but with Montas on the other side I have to go A’s for the win.
