The Line: Cleveland Indians -179 / Oakland Athletics +169 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Over at Progressive Field on Sunday, the Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Indians will be finishing up their weekend MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the Indians took a 10-4 win. On Saturday, we had extra action as the A’s took a 6-3 victory in 11 innings.
For the Sunday game, the A’s will be bringing out RHP Frankie Montas. In his 42.1 innings and 4-2 record this year, Montas has a 3.83 ERA with 28 Ks and 13 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the A’s this year is Jed Lowrie, who came into the weekend on 97 hits, 38 runs, 14 homers and 59 RBI. On Saturday, Lowrie slapped a two-run homer.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Shane Bieber on Sunday. Over 30.1 innings and a 4-0 record this year, Bieber has a 2.97 ERA with 29 Ks and five BBs.
Francisco Lindor is the top hitter for the Indians, and he came into the weekend on 105 hits, 78 runs, 23 homers and 55 RBI. In game two, Lindor had two hits, one RBI and a run.
The A’s are 19-7 in their last 26 Sunday games and 23-9 in their last 32 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The over is 6-0 in Montas’ last six overall and 4-0 in his last four starts versus the AL Central.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 4-0 in their last four Sunday games and 37-17 in their last 54 during game three of a series. Cleveland is also 5-0 in Bieber’s last five starts and 5-0 in his last five starts on grass.
Over his last two starts, Montas has allowed a total of nine earned runs in 8.2 innings on 17 hits. As for Bieber, he had a few good starts going but was a little choppy his last time out with four earned on nine hits in 6.0 innings. I’m going to trust Bieber to come out strong here and help the Indians to a win.
