|Date & Time||Saturday September 1, 2018, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Cleveland Indians -109 / Tampa Bay Rays -101 --- Over/Under: 8
The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians will be continuing their MLB series on Saturday from Progressive Field.
In the Friday opener, the Indians banged out a 3-0 shutout, out-hitting Tampa 4-2 in a heavily defensive game.
Lefty Blake Snell will take the mound for the Rays on Saturday. Over his 145.0 innings and 16-5 mark this year, Snell has a 2.05 ERA with 168 Ks and 53 BBs.
Matt Duffy leads the way for the Rays offense this year, and he came into this set on 130 hits, 48 runs and 35 RBI. On Friday, Duffy was 0-for-3.
As for the Indians, they’re sending out Shane Bieber on Saturday. Across 79.2 innings and an 8-2 mark, Bieber has a 4.52 ERA with 83 Ks and 15 BBs.
Francisco Lindor is the leading hitter for the Indians, coming into this series on 156 hits, 109 runs, 29 homers and 78 RBI. In the opener, Lindor posted a run.
The Rays are 5-1 in their last six in game two of a series and 4-0 in Snell’s last four starts. Tampa is 10-1 in Snell’s last 11 starts with five days’ rest and 4-1 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 4-1 in Bieber’s last five starts and 0-4 in their last four games versus a left-handed starter. Cleveland is 4-1 in Bieber’s last five starts on grass and the under is 3-0-1 in their last four in game two of a series.
Snell has posted some nice starts lately. Over his last four outings, he’s given up just two earned in 22.0 innings of work and won all four. Bieber has been a little sketchier, giving up 10 earned over his last three starts, but he’s 2-0 in that time. I’m going to stick with Snell and the Rays for the win here.
