The Cleveland Indians welcome the Texas Rangers to Progressive Field to kick off a weekday series.
The Texas Rangers are a team that nobody wants to play right now with their offense heating up. Ina 5-2 victory at New York their pitching also chipped in for win number five in a row. Starter Yovani Gallardo was in top form with both runs plated on four hits and a walk over six frames while striking out 12. That was plenty good enough with the Rangers pounding New York pitching for 13 hits. Adam Rosales went deep and drove in two with Prince Fielder going 3-5 with a pair of RBI’s while Shin-Soo Choo was 2-5 with an RBI and two runs. Rookie Phil Klein makes his second career start at Progressive Field on Monday. Klein won his major league debut 2-1 at Boston with the lone run plated on a solo homer in 5.1 innings.
The Cleveland Indians are playing their best baseball of the season but need more to be a factor in the American League Central. The Indians were strong in all areas of a 5-2 win against Cincinnati for their 5th straight victory. Starter Trevor Bauer was outstanding with a run plated on five hits through 7.2 innings to up his record to 4-1. The Tribe offense posted eight hits and walked seven times with Carlos Santana going 2-5 with a run and RBI while David Murphy was 2-4 with a run knocked in.Shaun Marcum makes his second start of 2015 and second in two seasons when he opposes the visiting Rangers. Marcum picked a 4-3 win at the White Sox with two runs scored over 6.2 frames.
The under is 9-2-1 in the Rangers last 12 Monday games. Cleveland are 1-11 in their last 12 Monday games and the under is 7-1 in their last 8 overall while going 7-1 in the Indians last 8 on grass. Texas are 3-14 in the last 17 meetings. Both teams are playing well but I’ll take the rested Tribe…
