The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks +125 / Colorado Rockies -145 -- Over/Under: 12
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies meet Thursday in MLB action at Coors Field.
The Arizona Diamondbacks look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Diamondbacks have scored nine runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 12 games. The Arizona Diamondbacks have won six of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Eduardo Escobar leads the Diamondbacks with 62 hits and 42 RBI while Ketel Marte and David Peralta have combined for 119 hits and 68 RBI. Taylor Clarke gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA and eight strikeouts this season. This will be Clarke’s first career game against the Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies look for another win to build on their four-game winning streak. The Rockies have scored 15 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in their last 10 games. The Colorado Rockies have won seven of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with 72 hits and 46 RBI while Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon have combined for 120 hits and 66 RBI. Kyle Freeland gets the ball, and he is 2-6 with a 6.71 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. Freeland is 3-3 with a 4.81 ERA and 35 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 3-7 in their last 10 vs. National League West, 3-8 in their last 11 during game 4 of a series and 3-7 in their last 10 overall. The Rockies are 8-1 in their last 9 during game 4 of a series, 12-3 in Freeland's last 15 home starts and 3-7 in Freeland's last 10 starts. The Diamondbacks are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Colorado, 2-8 in the last 10 meetings and the Rockies are 4-1 in Freeland's last 5 starts vs. Diamondbacks. The over is 5-0 in Freeland's last 5 starts overall. The under is 13-6-1 in Diamondbacks last 20 during game 4 of a series.
Clarke has been decent for somebody who has just three career starts and has pitched all three games on the road, but I need a larger sample size before I know what I'm working with. Freeland has rough numbers on the season and they get even worse at home where he has an ERA over eight and a .294 allowed batting average. Freeland also allowed nine hits and eight runs in six innings when he pitched against these Diamondbacks earlier this month. The Colorado Rockies are playing better baseball, but I'll take a stab with the plus money to avoid backing Freeland with the way he's pitched.
