The Line: Colorado Rockies -135 / Arizona Diamondbacks +125 --- Over/Under: 10
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies will be kicking off their MLB set on Monday from Coors Field.
The Diamondbacks are coming off a weekend set against the Braves. After dropping two of the first three games, on Sunday Arizona lost 9-5.
For Monday’s game, the Diamondbacks will be sending out RHP Zack Godley. Across his 159.2 innings and 14-8 record this year, Godley has a 4.51 ERA with 170 Ks and 68 BBs.
Paul Goldschmidt is the top hitter for the Diamondbacks this year, coming out of the week on 158 hits, 89 runs, 33 homers and 82 RBI. On Sunday, Goldschmidt had a hit and a run.
As for the Rockies, they just finished up against the Dodgers. After splitting the first two games of that set, on Sunday Colorado lost 9-6.
For the Monday game, the Rockies will be sending out German Marquez. In his 164.1 innings and 11-9 mark this year, Marquez has a 4.05 ERA with 184 Ks and 52 BBs.
Colorado’s top hitter this season is Trevor Story, who came into the week on 159 hits, 77 runs, 31 homers and 95 RBI. In the Dodgers finale, Story posted an RBI.
The Diamondbacks are 1-4 in their last five in game one of a series and 1-4 in their last five Monday games. Arizona is 6-2 in Godley’s last eight road starts and 2-7 in his last nine starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 1-5 in their last six in game one of a series and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Colorado is 2-9 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams at Coors and 4-1 in their last five meetings overall.
Overall, Godley has been pretty solid this season, but he’s stumbled lately. In three of his last four starts, he’s allowed a combined 15 earned runs in 15.0 innings on a total of 17 hits. The good news is that Godley does have three quality starts in his last six outings, but he’s going to need to stay tight here. In a hitters’ park like Coors, I’m not sure he can. Give me the Rockies.
