The Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies will match up on the MLB diamond Monday to open their set.

The Cubs are coming off a three-game set versus their rival Cardinals this weekend. Chicago took the first pair of games 3-1 and 9-4, then on Sunday in the finale the Cubs finished up the sweep with a 5-1 win.

For Monday’s opener, Chicago will be sending out Yu Darvish in the start. Over his 66.1 innings and 2-3 record this year, Darvish has a 4.88 ERA with 78 Ks and 44 BBs.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re fresh off a weekend series against the Mets. Colorado won 5-1 Friday and lost 5-3 on Saturday. In the Sunday game, the Rockies dropped 6-1.

In the Monday game, Colorado will be going with German Marquez for the start. In his 90.2 innings and 6-3 mark so far, Marquez has a 4.07 ERA with 88 Ks and 18 walks.

The Cubs are 4-1 in their last five versus the NL West and 1-5 in their last six road games. Chicago is 1-6 in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record and the over is 5-0-1 in their last six Monday games.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 5-1 in their last six in game one of a series and 13-3 in their last 16 home games. The under is 5-2 in Colorado’s last seven in game one of a series and 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these teams.

Darvish has a couple of good starts under her belt since his sketchy outing against the Reds, with two earned in 11.1 innings on six hits in that time.

As for Marquez, he coughed up eight earned in 5.1 innings in his last outing, but is 2-1 in his last four starts.

I think the Cubs have a decent shot as underdogs here behind Darvish. I’ll go Chicago.
