The Line: Colorado Rockies -130 / Oakland Athletics +120 --- Over/Under: 12
Up at Coors Field on Sunday, the Oakland Athletics and the Colorado Rockies will be matching up to finish their MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the Rockies managed a 3-1 win. On Saturday, Colorado kept it going, winning 4-1.
For the Sunday game, the A’s will be rolling with RHP Frankie Montas. In his 53.1 innings and 5-2 record this year, Montas has a 3.54 ERA with 33 Ks and 17 BBs.
Coming into the weekend, Jed Lowrie had a slim margin on the A’s hit lead with 109 hits, 48 runs, 17 homers and 66 RBI. On Saturday, Lowrie posted an 0-for-3 line.
As for the Rockies, they’re sending out German Marquez on Sunday. Over his 108.0 innings and 8-8 record this year, Marquez has a 5.00 ERA with 112 Ks and 40 BBs.
Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado were tied for the Rockies’ hit lead coming into the weekend on 113 hits, apiece with a combined 46 home runs. In game two, Arenado put up a solo homer while Blackmon went 1-for-5.
The A’s are 4-0 in their last five during game three of a series and 22-7 in their last 29 Sunday games. Oakland is 4-1 in Montas’ last five starts and 5-0 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 7-19 in their last 26 Sunday games and 4-0 in Marquez’s last four starts. Colorado is also 2-5 in Marquez’s last seven Sunday starts and 4-0 in his last four starts versus a team with a winning record.
Montas has been okay over his last three starts, putting up a total of six earned in 16.2 innings during that time. As for Marquez, he’s coming off five earned in 5.0 innings in Arizona, but before that had three straight quality starts. I’m going to stick with Montas to keep it somewhat consistent here and go with the A’s for the win.
