The Philadelphia Phillies and the Colorado Rockies will be meeting in MLB activity to continue their series on Friday.

In game one of this set Thursday, the Rockies bagged a 6-2 win with three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.

In the Friday game, the Phillies will be sending out RHP Vince Velasquez. In his 12.0 innings without a decision so far, Velasquez has a 2.25 ERA with eight Ks and three walks.

In the loss Thursday, Philadelphia managed just five hits in that one, with Cesar Hernandez bagging three of them.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re going with German Marquez on Friday. In his 27.0 innings and 2-1 mark this season, Marquez has a 2.00 ERA with 25 Ks and six walks.

Colorado cruised to the victory Thursday thanks to 11 hits. Ryan McMahon logged a 3-for-5 night in that one.

The Phillies are 5-2 in the last seven Friday games and 8-20 in Velasquez’s last 28 road starts. Philadelphia is 2-7 in Velasquez’s last nine road starts versus a team with a losing record and 5-17 in his last 22 with four days’ rest.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games and 4-1 in Marquez’s last five Friday starts. Colorado is 15-7 in Marquez’s last 22 starts and 6-2 in his last eight in game two of a series.

Velasquez opened up this year with a clean inning of relief, and since then he’s tossed 10.0 innings with six hits and three earned total. Not too shabby.

As for Marquez, he had the one bad start versus the Braves (5.0 innings; seven hits; five earned) but followed that up with a one-hit, complete-game shutout in San Fran.

I like Marquez to keep it going here so I’m sticking with the Rockies.
