The Line: Colorado Rockies -140 / San Francisco Giants +130 --- Over/Under: 11.5
On Tuesday evening from Coors Field, the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies will be continuing their MLB set.
In the Monday game, the Rockies eked out a 6-5 extra-innings victory.
For Tuesday’s matchup, the Giants are rolling with RHP Jeff Samardzija. In his 34.2 innings and 1-3 record so far, Samardzija has a 6.23 ERA with 25 Ks and 23 BBs.
Tied for the Giants’ hitting lead entering this set were Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford, each with 56 hits. On Monday, both players each had a hit and a run.
Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re sending out Kyle Freeland on Tuesday. Freeland has pitched 60.1 innings with a 4-5 record this year, logging a 3.28 ERA, 52 Ks and 21 walks.
Nolan Arenado is the top hitter on the Rockies’ roster, with 57 hits, 29 runs, 10 homers and 29 RBI entering this set. In the Monday opener, Arenado had two runs.
The Giants are 9-1 in their last 10 games versus a left-handed starter and 4-10 in their last 14 Tuesday games. San Francisco is also 1-4 in Samardzija’s last five Tuesday starts and 0-4 in his last four starts.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series and 4-1 in Freeland’s last five starts with five days’ rest. Colorado is also 4-1 in Freeland’s last five starts in game two of a series and 2-6 in his last eight home starts.
Over his last four games or so, Samardzija has been a little shaky with 16 earned in a span of 21.0 innings. Freeland meanwhile has been pretty consistent with five straight quality starts. Given the matchup here, I’m going with Freeland to stay hot and help guide the Rockies to a win.
