Colorado Rockies -175 / San Francisco Giants +159 O/U: 14
The San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies will meet up for game one of their MLB doubleheader Monday.
This will be a makeup game from way back on May 8th.
The Giants are fresh off a weekend set versus the Brewers. San Francisco split the first two games of that series 10-7 (win) and 5-4 (loss). On Sunday the Giants managed an 8-3 victory.
For the Monday game, San Francisco will go with Jeff Samardzija in the start. Samardzija has a 6-7 record this year with a 4.01 ERA and 80 strikeouts.
Over on the Colorado side, they just finished up against Cincinnati. The Rockies split their first pair in that set as well; 3-2 (win) and 17-9 (loss). In the Sunday rubber match Colorado bagged six runs in the fifth and squeaked by on a 10-9 win.
The Rockies will be sending out German Marquez for the start on Monday. Across his 8-4 record and 4.45 ERA This year, Marquez has put up 125 strikeouts.
The Giants are 4-0 in their last four versus the NL West and 8-3 in their last 11 in game one of a series. San Francisco is 5-2 in their last seven after a win and 5-1 in their last six road games.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 5-1 in their last six Monday games and 4-1 in their last five openers of doubleheaders. Colorado is 0-4 in their last four versus the NL West and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 in game one of a series.
Samardzija’s season numbers are a little sketchy, but over his last two starts he’s 2-0 with a nice 1.20 ERA. Across his career, Samardzija has a 5-7 record with a 3.97 ERA (19 games) versus the Rockies.
As for Marquez, he’s got a 5.73 ERA at Coors this year but also a 4-1 record. When he’s on the hill, the Rockies usually have a good shot at a win. This may be a weird game but I’ll stick with Marquez and Colorado here.
