The Line: Colorado Rockies -138 / Seattle Mariners +128 --- Over/Under: 12
Up in the rare air of Coors Field on Friday, the Seattle Mariners and the Colorado Rockies will be kicking off their MLB weekend series.
The Mariners are coming off a set versus the Angels. After splitting the first two games, on Thursday Seattle lost big 11-2.
For the Friday game, the Mariners will be bringing out RHP Christian Bergman. In his 7.0 innings pitched this year, Bergman has a 0.00 ERA with seven Ks.
Seattle’s lead hitter this year is Jean Segura, who entered the Angels finale on 117 hits, 63 runs and 47 RBI. On Thursday, Segura was 0-for-3.
As for the Rockies, they just finished up against Arizona. Colorado split their first two games as well, then on Thursday the Rockies took a 5-1 win.
On Friday, the Rockies are rolling with Antonio Senzatela. Over his 30.1 innings and 3-2 record this year, Senzatela has a 5.34 ERA with 20 Ks.
Tops in hitting for the Rockies coming into the Diamondbacks finale was Nolan Arenado with 102 hits, 61 runs, 23 homers and 66 RBI. In the Thursday game, Arenado logged one hit.
The Mariners are 6-2 in their last eight Friday games and the under is 3-1-1 in their last five in game one of a series. Seattle is 5-2 in their last seven road games and 11-4 in their last 16 overall.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 4-0 in their last four Friday games and 7-2 in Senzatela’s last nine home starts. The over is 4-1-1 in the Rockies’ last six Friday games and 8-3 in Senzatela’s last 11 home starts.
Bergman is going to be making a spot start (recalled from Triple-A) to fill in for the injured Felix Hernandez here. As for Senzatela, he’s had one good start and one bad start so far. With the relatively small sample sizes on these guys, it’s a tough one to pick, so I’m staying away. That said, I’ll go with the hometown Rockies.
