NOTE: This game has been postponed and rescheduled for August 6.
The Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers will meet up to continue their MLB series on Saturday.
In the Thursday opener, the Tigers took a 9-7 victory. On Friday, Chicago struck back with a 7-3 win to even it up.
In Friday’s victory, Yoan Moncada was among a trio of White Sox hitters to turn in a pair of knocks on the day, and one of his hits was a solo homer. Moncada also provided two hits and two runs for the Sox there.
For the Saturday game, the White Sox will be bringing out Ervin Santana for the start. In his 8.2 innings and 0-1 mark this year, Santana has a 10.38 ERA with four Ks and six walks.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with Daniel Norris on Saturday. In his 8.1 innings without a decision this year, Norris has a 4.32 ERA with four Ks and three walks.
In the loss on Friday, no Tiger logged more than one hit, and every run came via solo homer. Grayson Greiner, Niko Goodrum and Josh Harrison each went yard for Detroit in that game.
The White Sox are 7-19 in their last 26 Saturday games and 2-6 in their last eight in game three of a series. The over is 5-2 in Chicago’s last seven in game three of a series and 4-1 in their last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 1-4 in Norris’ last five Saturday starts and 1-7 in his last eight home starts. Detroit is 0-4 in Norris’ last four starts and 1-5 in his last six starts versus the AL Central.
Santana’s fat ERA comes mostly from his debut this year, with 3.2 innings, seven hits and seven earned versus a good Rays team. After that, Santana calmed down with 5.0 innings and three hits versus KC.
As for Norris, this will be his first start of the year, and his three relief efforts have been mixed so far. I doubt Norris will last too long here unless he’s absolutely dealing. I don’t necessarily trust Santana either but I’ll take the White Sox here.
