|Date & Time||Wednesday August 15, 2018, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Detroit Tigers +106 / Chicago White Sox -116 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Comerica Park will be coming alive once again on Wednesday as the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers continue their MLB series.
The Tigers took a 9-5 win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday the Sox won 6-3.
For the Wednesday game, the Sox will be bringing out LHP Carlos Rodon. In his 72.1 innings and 3-3 mark this year, Rodon has a 2.61 ERA with 58 Ks and 28 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Sox this season is Jose Abreu, who entered game two on 119 hits, 62 runs, 20 homers and 68 RBI. On Tuesday, Abreu logged two RBI and a run.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re rolling with Jordan Zimmerman on Wednesday. Over his 83.2 innings and 5-4 record this season, Zimmerman has a 3.98 ERA with 74 Ks and 16 BBs.
Nick Castellanos is the big bat in the Detroit lineup right now, and he came into Tuesday on 133 hits, 62 runs, 17 homers and 64 RBI. In game two, Castellans put up an 0-for-5 line.
The Sox are 4-11 in their last 15 in game three of a series and 2-8 in Rodon’s last 10 road starts. Chicago is also 1-5 in Rodon’s last six starts with four days’ rest and 1-5 in his last six Wednesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games and 4-11 in Zimmerman’s last 15 home starts. Detroit is also 1-4 in Zimmerman’s last five starts and 2-8 in his last 10 Wednesday starts.
Rodon is on a nice roll right now. He’s sitting on six straight quality starts, with just four earned runs allowed between those games. As for Zimmerman, he had a rough run last month but has two consecutive quality starts right now. All things considered though, I have to take Rodon and the Sox here but the under looks mighty enticing as well.
