The Line: Detroit Tigers +250 / Cleveland Indians -275 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Up at Comerica Park on Sunday, the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers will be finishing up their MLB weekend set.
In the Friday opener, the Indians banged out an 8-3 win. On Saturday, Detroit managed a 2-1 win.
For the Sunday game, the Indians will be bringing out RHP Corey Kluber. In his 137.2 innings and 12-6 mark this year, Kluber has a 2.88 ERA with 134 Ks and 18 BBs.
Coming into game two, the Indians’ hit leader was Francisco Lindor with 122 hits, 90 runs, 27 homers and 66 RBI. On Saturday, Lindor put up an 0-for-3 line.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re rolling with Jordan Zimmerman on Sunday. Across 68.0 innings and a 4-2 mark this year, Zimmerman has a 3.97 ERA with 65 Ks and 12 BBs.
Tops in hitting this year for the Tigers is Nick Castellanos, who entered the weekend on 120 hits, 57 runs, 15 homers and 57 RBI. On Sunday, Castellanos was 0-for-4.
The Indians are 28-11 in their last 39 in game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games. Cleveland is also 7-0 in Kluber’s last seven Sunday starts and 20-8 in his last 28 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 7-16 in their last 23 Sunday games and 7-3 in Zimmerman’s last 10 starts in game three of a series. Detroit is 2-7 in Zimmerman’s last nine home starts and 5-14 in his last 19 starts versus a team with a winning record.
Kluber had a couple of good starts going this month but faltered in his last pair with nine earned over 11.1 innings. As for Zimmerman, he’s given up eight earned over his last 11.2 innings following two straight quality starts. I’m not thrilled with either pitcher right now, but I think Kluber has the better chance at bouncing back. I’ll go Indians.
