The Houston Astros and the Detroit Tigers will meet up to start their MLB series on Monday.

The Astros just finished up a four-game set versus the Rangers. Houston won 4-2, 3-0 and 11-4 in the first three games. Then in the Sunday finale, Houston kept the train rolling with a rousing 15-5 victory. The Astros scored in all but three innings of that game, including five runs in the sixth.

For the Monday game, the Astros will be sending out Brad Peacock in the start. In his 3-2 record this year with a 4.30 ERA, he’s got 38 strikeouts to his credit.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re fresh off four games versus the Twins. Detroit lost two of the first three games (they got the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday), then on Sunday in the finale Detroit came out firing with three runs in the first two innings on the way to a nice 5-3 win.

In Monday’s matchup, Detroit will be going with Matthew Boyd in the Monday game. Across a 4-2 mark this year with a 2.86 ERA, Boyd has 63 strikeouts so far.

The Astros are 8-3 in their last 11 Monday games and 37-15 in their last 52 versus the AL Central. Houston is 58-28 in their last 86 overall and 6-1 in Peacock’s last seven Monday starts.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 0-4 in their last four Monday games and 14-3 in Boyd’s last 17 home starts. Detroit is 5-2 in Boyd’s last seven starts and 4-1 in his last five with four days’ rest.

Peacock came out firing in his last start, striking out 12 players across seven innings of shutout ball.

As for Boyd, he’s won his last three starts and hasn't given up more than three earned runs in his last eight games.

This should be a fun one to watch. I’m going to go with Peacock and the Astros in what should be a fun game here.
