Houston Astros at Detroit Tigers
|Date & Time||Tuesday May 14, 2019, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
Detroit Tigers +175 / Houston Astros -185 O/U: 9.5
The Houston Astros and the Detroit Tigers will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series Tuesday.
In the Monday game of this set, the Astros had three big innings to pour in the runs, dropping three in both the second and ninth on the way to an 8-1 win.
For Tuesday’s game, the Astros will be going with Wade Miley in the starting role. With a 3-2 record so far this year, Miley has a 3.18 ERA with 30 strikeouts on his resume.
Houston had the bats working in the Monday game, racking up 11 hits. Jake Marisnick got in on the action with a two-run homer and two runs with two hits.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with Ryan Carpenter in the starting role Tuesday. Carpenter owns an 0-1 record so far with a 10.80 ERA and two strikeouts.
Detroit could muster just five hits in the Monday loss. Ronny Rodriguez and Josh Harrison provided four of those hits, with two knocks apiece.
Houston is 59-25 against the money line as a road favorite of -125 to -175 over the last three seasons and 123-70 versus the money line in road games over the last three seasons. Detroit is 75-137 against the money line in night games over the last three seasons and 53-91 against the money line after a win over the last three seasons.
Miley is rocking right now with three earned runs or fewer in 24 consecutive starts—that dates back to early May of last season.
As for Carpenter, this will be his second shot at a start this year, and the Tigers really need him to step up and fill that fifth starter slot. That said, with the way Miley is pitching right now, I can’t find a lot of reasons not to pick the Astros in this one.
