Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers
|Date & Time||Saturday April 6, 2019, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
Detroit Tigers -125 / Kansas City Royals +105 O/U: 8.5
The Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers will be picking up their MLB set once again on Saturday.
For the Saturday game, the Royals will be sending out RHP Jorge Lopez in the start. In his first action of the year, Lopez put up 5.0 innings with six hits and four earned in a loss to the White Sox.
Kansas City’s top hitter this year so far is Adalberto Mondesi, with nine hits, five runs, three triples, one homer and five RBI. Whit Merrifeld and Jorge Soler are each tied for second with seven hits apiece and nine combined RBI.
Over on the Detroit side, they’re going with Matt Moore on Saturday. On March 31 in his first 2019 start, Moore logged 7.0 innings with just two hits and six strikeouts in a no-decision in Toronto.
The Tigers’ lead hitter in 2019 is Jeimer Candelario with eight hits, one run and two RBI. Nick Castellanos is in second with seven hits and three runs, as is Niko Goodrum.
The Royals are 7-1 in their last eight Saturday games and 8-3 in their last 11 after an off day. KC is 9-4 in their last 13 in game two of a series and 15-39 in their last 54 road games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-1 in the last five overall and 22-46 in their last 68 in game two of a series. Detroit is 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 3-9 in their last 12 home games.
Well, Lopez’s first start of the year didn’t go so well. and if you include his final start last season he’s now given up 11 earned over his last 6.0 innings on 14 hits. Yuck.
As for Moore, he had a very nice start to his 2019 season, and hasn’t given up a run in any of his last four appearances dating back to last year.
I’m going to stick with Moore and the Tigers to keep things going here and bang out a home win.
