Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers
|Date & Time||Sunday April 7, 2019, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Kansas City Royals +105 / Detroit Tigers -115 -- Over/Under: 8.5
The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers meet Sunday in MLB action at Comerica Park.
The Kansas City Royals could use a win here to snap a five-game losing streak. The Royals have allowed 19 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in their last six games. The Kansas City Royals are 1-5 this season when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Adalberto Mondesi leads the Royals with nine hits and five RBI while Whit Merrifield and Jorge Soler have combined for 16 hits and 11 RBI. Brad Keller gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. Keller is 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and two strikeouts in his career against the Tigers.
The Detroit Tigers look for another win to build on their four-game winning streak. The Tigers have scored 14 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in six of their last nine games. The Detroit Tigers are 6-0 this season when scoring more than one run. Nicholas Castellanos leads the Tigers with 10 hits and two RBI while Niko Goodrum and Jeimer Candelario have combined for 16 hits and five RBI. Tyson Ross gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and four strikeouts this season. Ross is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and eight strikeouts in his career against the Royals.
The Royals are 15-39 in their last 54 road games, 9-43 in their last 52 during game 3 of a series and 3-7 in Keller's last 10 road starts. The Tigers are 11-23 in their last 34 Sunday games, 3-9 in their last 12 home games and 4-1 in their last 5 overall. The over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Detroit and 5-2-2 in the last 9 meetings. The under is 7-1 in Tigers last 8 overall. The over is 5-0 in Royals last 5 overall.
The Kansas City Royals are looking a lot like the team from last season, a fading machine that you just automatically bet against, especially on the road. The Detroit Tigers have found ways to surprise some folks with their start and have a pitching staff that has been much better than advertised. While I'm not sold on what the Tigers have been selling this last week or so, I'm going to continue betting against the Royals. I'll take the Tigers at home and the cheap price.
