The Line: Detroit Tigers +110 / Minnesota Twins -120 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Up at Comerica Park on Thursday, the Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers will be finishing up their MLB series.
In the opener, the Twins managed a 6-4 win. On Wednesday, Detroit struck back 5-2.
For the Thursday matchup, the Twins will be rolling out RHP Lance Lynn. In his 62.0 innings and 4-4 record this year, Lynn has a 5.08 ERA with 62 Ks and 40 BBs.
Leading the way for the Twins entering game two was Eddie Rosario with 78 hits, 42 runs, 14 homers and 43 RBI. On Wednesday Rosario had a hit and a run.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with Michael Fulmer on Thursday. Over 73.2 innings and a 2-5 record this year, Fulmer has a 4.40 ERA with 62 Ks and 27 BBs.
Nick Castellanos is way out front for the Tigers, with 84 hits, 32 runs and 34 RBI entering Wednesday. In game two, Castellanos went 0-for-5.
The Twins are 1-4 in their last five Thursday games and 5-2 in Lynn’s last seven starts. Minnesota is also 4-0 in Lynn’s last four starts versus the AL Central and 5-2 in his last seven starts on grass.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 14-4 in Fulmer’s last 18 starts in game three of a series and 1-6 in his last seven starts. Detroit is 1-6 in Fulmer’s last seven starts on grass and 4-1 in his last five home starts versus a team with a losing record.
Lynn has been solid lately, with four straight quality starts in which he’s allowed just four earned runs. As for Fulmer, he coughed up nine earned across two starts earlier this month but was good versus the Indians with 7.0 innings and one earned. Still, I think Lynn will out-duel Fulmer here so I’m going Twins.
