Starting pitcher Rick Porcello allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out two over 8.0 innings to get the win and go to 15-8 for the season and Joe Nathan earned his 28th save. For Wednesday’s game the Tigers start David Price who is coming off of a loss in a game that he threw a one hitter. Since being traded to Detroit Price has allowed 17 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 32 over 30.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 2.35 ERA.

The New York Yankees are trying to hold onto their post season hopes but they took another hit on Tuesday as the lost in Detroit. Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits including two home runs and Derek Jeter and Carlos Beltran had two hits each as the Yankees scored two runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-3 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start Shane Greene who has no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Greene has allowed 48 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 46 over 48.1 innings for a 3-1 record and a 3.17 ERA.

Detroit is 7-2 in their last nine home games, 6-2 in their last eight games as a favorite, and 6-12 against a team with a winning record. New York is 5-0 in their last five games, 4-1 against a left-handed starter, and 4-0 in Greene’s last four starts. New York is 4-2 in their last six meetings with Detroit.

This one looks to be about the pitching and my free pick is on the under. My stronger pick is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
