New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers
|Date & Time||Thursday September 12, 2019, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
Detroit Tigers +180 / New York Yankees -215 O/U: 9.5
The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will finish up their MLB series on Thursday with game two of a doubleheader.
In the Tuesday opener, the Tigers secured a 12-11 comeback win. On Wednesday, we had a rainout. Game one of this pair will begin at 1:10 PM ET and this one will begin shortly afterward.
For the Thursday game two, the Yankees will send out CC Sabathia in the start. Sabathia is 5-8 with a 4.93 ERA and 96 Ks this year.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with Spencer Turnbull in the Thursday game two start. Over 127.0 innings and a 3-14 mark, Turnbull has a 4.68 ERA with 118 Ks and 55 BBs.
The Yankees are 7-2 in their last nine road games and 50-20 in their last 70 on grass. New York is 54-24 in their last 78 overall and the under is 12-4 in their last 16 overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 10-43 in their last 53 home games and 3-12 in their last 15 Thursday games. Detroit is 1-12 in Turnbull’s last 13 home starts and 0-4 in his last four Thursday starts.
CC probably won’t go too long here; maybe four innings or so if he’s doing well coming off his knee issues. After that he’ll get some help, probably from Domingo German.
As for Turnbull, he’s coughed up 10 earned over his last two starts in 6.0 innings and hasn’t recorded a W in quite some time.
Anything could happen here, but I can’t find a lot of reasons not to take the Yankees.
