The Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series Saturday.

In the Thursday opener, the A’s surged to a huge 17-3 victory. On Friday, Oakland made it two straight with a 7-2 win.

For the Saturday game, the A’s will be sending out Daniel Mengden in the start. In his 5.1 innings and 0-1 record so far, Mengden has a 6.75 ERA with four Ks and four BBs.

Oakland’s big hitter on Friday was Khris Davis, who finished with three hits, a run and an RBI.

Over on the Tigers’ side they’re going with Matthew Boyd on Saturday. Across 54.1 innings and a 4-3 record so far, Boyd has a 3.15 ERA with 65 Ks and 13 BBs.

Detroit put up just four hits on Friday. Miguel Cabrera was the only Tigers player with more than one knock, and he would finish on two hits, one RBI and a run.

The A’s are 1-4 in their last five Saturday games and 0-5 in their last five in game three of a series. Oakland is 8-2 in Mengden’s last 10 road starts and 7-3 in his last 10 starts.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series. Detroit is 8-2 in Boyd’s last 10 home starts and 7-2 in his last nine Saturday starts.

Well, we only have the one start to evaluate Mengden by this year, and though he only allowed five hits in 5.1 innings versus the Indians May 12, he also walked four and tallied 100 pitches.

As for Boyd, he had a string of seven quality starts snapped in his last outing (4.0 innings; three earned versus Houston), but I like him to bounce back here and put up a good start. I’ll go Tigers.

Detroit Tigers -106
