Oakland Athletics (40-37) at Detroit Tigers (36-41)
|Date & Time||Monday June 25, 2018, 3:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Detroit Tigers -115 / Oakland Athletics +105 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Coming up on Monday out at Comerica Park, the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers will be kicking off their MLB series.
The A’s are coming off a set against the White Sox. Oakland won two of the first three games, then on Sunday the A’s lost 10-3.
For Monday’s game, the A’s will be bringing out RHP Frankie Montas. In his 33.2 innings and 4-1 record this year, Montas has a 2.41 ERA with 21 Ks.
Jed Lowrie leads the A’s offense with 85 hits, 31 runs, 11 homers and 50 RBI coming out of the week. On Sunday, Lowrie went 0-for-4.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they just finished up against the Indians. Detroit lost the first two games of that set, then on Sunday they lost again 12-2.
Detroit will be going with RHP Jordan Zimmerman on Monday. Across 36.1 innings and a 2-0 record this season, Zimmerman has a 4.95 ERA with 36 Ks.
Nick Castellanos is the top hitter for the Tigers with his 90 hits, 36 runs and 41 RBI coming into the week. In the Sunday game, Castellanos had two hits and a run.
The over is 4-1 in the A’s last five Monday games and 18-7-1 in their last 26 in game one of a series. Oakland is 6-2 in their last eight overall and 4-2 in their last six road games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 12-4 in their last 16 home games following a road trip of a week or more and 5-12 in their last 17 Monday games. Detroit is 11-24 in their last 35 versus the AL West and 1-6 in their last seven in game one of a series.
In his return from the DL on June 16, Zimmerman put up five innings against the White Sox on June 16. He put up three earned runs on four hits with four Ks. This should be a pretty good pitching matchup if both guys are on, but I’ll give the at-home Tigers a small advantage. The play might be the under, though.
