|Date & Time||Sunday May 13, 2018, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Detroit Tigers +170 / Seattle Mariners -180 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Coming up Sunday from Comerica Park, the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers will be wrapping up their MLB series.
In the Saturday doubleheader, Seattle won 9-5 then the Tigers stormed back to eke out a 4-3 win.
For Sunday’s game, the Mariners will be bringing out lefty James Paxton. In his 47.2 innings and 2-1 record this year, Paxton has a 3.40 ERA with 67 Ks and 19 BBs.
Coming into the weekend, the Mariners’ top hitter was Dee Gordon with 49 hits, 22 runs and eight RBI. On Saturday, Gordon had one RBI
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with LHP Blaine Hardy on Sunday. In his 3.1 innings this year, Hardy has a 2.70 ERA with three Ks and two walks.
The Tigers’ leading bat coming into the weekend was Nick Castellans with 45 hits, 20 runs and 23 RBI. On Saturday, Castellanos had two hits.
The Mariners are 4-1 in their last five during game three of a series and 4-0 in Paxton’s last four road starts. Seattle is also 5-1 in Paxton’s last six starts and 3-11 in their last 14 Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 6-13 in their last 19 during game three of a series and 1-7 in their last eight Sunday games. The under is 4-0-1 in Detroit’s last five during game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games.
Paxton is on a nice run lately. He’s given up just two earned over his last three starts and is coming off a no-hitter in Toronto. Hardy is more of a reliever, but he’s done fairly well so far. All things considered, I’m going to stick with Paxton to stay hot here. I’ll take the Mariners.
