|Date & Time||Wednesday May 2, 2018, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Detroit Tigers +110 / Tampa Bay Rays -120 --- Over/Under: 8
Coming up on Wednesday from Comerica Park, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Tigers will be finishing up their MLB series.
On Monday, the Rays eked out a 3-2 win. In the Tuesday game, Detroit returned the favor 2-1.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Rays will be sending out LHP Blake Snell. In his 35.2 innings and 4-1 record this year, Snell has a 2.52 ERA with 41 Ks and 11 BBs.
Coming out of Monday’s game, the Rays’ top hitter was CJ Cron, with 28 hits, 14 runs, seven homers and 19 RBI. On Tuesday, Cron went 1-for-4.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re going with Michael Fulmer for the start on Wednesday. Over his 29.1 innings and 1-2 mark this season, Fulmer has a 2.76 ERA with 22 Ks and seven BBs.
Nick Castellanos was the top hitter for the Tigers coming into Tuesday, with 34 hits, 15 runs and 17 RBI. On Tuesday, Castellanos had a hit and an RBI.
The Rays are 2-5 in their last seven during game three of a series and 4-0 in Snell’s last four starts. Tampa is also 5-2 in Snell’s last seven starts with four days’ rest and 1-8 in his last nine Wednesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 8-0 in Fulmer’s last eight Wednesday starts and 12-3 in his last 15 starts in game three of a series. Detroit is also 3-9 in Fulmer’s last 12 starts and 4-12 in his last 16 during game three of a series.
Snell has had a nice run going over his last four games, with a combined five earned run in a four-game win streak. Fulmer has done well in his last pair, with two earned over 13.0 innings. All things considered, I’m going to stick with Snell to stay hot so I’ll take the Rays here.
