USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks play a rubber game Wednesday night at Chase Field.

The San Francisco Giants lost their first game Tuesday night, as Ryan Vogelsong allowed seven earned runs in 4.2 innings. While the bad pitching performance can be chalked up as a fluke, the Giants are scoring runs out of the gate, producing 11 runs in their first two games. Angel Pagan leads the Giants with four hits while Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey have combined for six RBIs. The San Francisco Giants are off to a solid start despite their loss on Tuesday night. Chris Heston gets the ball, and he was 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA and four strikeouts last season. This is Heston’s first career game against the Diamondbacks.

The Arizona Diamondbacks brought out the bats in their first victory, scoring seven runs on eight hits. The Diamondbacks have six players with at least two hits, and Aaron Hill leads the way with three hits. Jake Lamb has been the firestarter for Arizona, as he’s produced seven of the team’s 11 RBIs. The Arizona Diamondbacks would love nothing more than to start this season with a series victory against one of the top NL teams. Jeremy Hellickson takes the hill, and he was 1-5 with a 4.52 ERA and had 54 strikeouts last season. This will be Hellickson’s first career game against the Giants.

The Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 games vs. a right-handed starter and 4-1 in their last 5 vs. National League West. The Diamondbacks are 5-2 in their last 7 home games vs. a right-handed starter and 7-20 in their last 27 vs. National League West. The Giants are 19-7 in the last 26 meetings in Arizona.

In a game between two wet-behind-the-ear pitchers, I have to side with the home team. Both pitchers are new to their opposing teams and haven't provided a huge sample size to give either the advantage. I'm taking Arizona due to being at home.

Pick:
Arizona Diamondbacks -127
