The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -138 / Colorado Rockies +128 --- Over/Under: 8
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies face off on Sunday at Dodger Stadium in game three of their MLB AL West series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the first two games of this series to take sole possession of first place in the NL West. On Saturday Yasiel Puig and Howie Kendrick each had two hits and Adrian Gonzalez added a hit as the Dodgers scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke allowed five hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 2-0 and Joel Peralta earned his third save. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers start Brandon McCarthy who has allowed 15 hits and nine runs while striking out 19 over 12.0 innings for a 1-0 record and a 6.75 ERA.
The Colorado Rockies scored in the first inning on Saturday but that was their last lead as they fell to the Dodgers. D.J. LeMahieu hit a home run and Troy Tulowitzki and Justin Morneau had hits as the Rockies scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles allowed five hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-1 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Eddie Butler who has allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out six over 11.0 innings for a 1-0 record and 1.64 ERA.
Los Angeles is 6-0 in their last six games, 5-1 in game three of a series, and 40-15 against the NL West. Colorado is 23-54 as an underdog, 12-41 in their last 53 road games, and 13-40 against a team with a winning record. Colorado is 3-13 in the last 16 meetings of these two.
I am not a huge fan of McCarthy who is over rated and I see the Rockies salvaging a win here though Butler will need to avoid the big walk totals.
