The Line: San Francisco Giants / Los Angeles Dodgers --- Over/Under:
The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Thursday as they close out their MLB NL West series.
The San Francisco Giants have not had a good start to the season but they have had their way with the Dodgers this series including a win over Dodgers on Wednesday. Buster Posey, Matt Duffy, and Norichika Aoki each had hits as the Giants scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner allowed six hits and two runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings to not get the decision as Santiago Casilla got the win. For Thursday’s game the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has allowed 20 hits and 12 runs while striking out 10 over 10.1 innings for a 0-1 record and a 10.45 ERA.
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost on Wednesday as they were one again held in check by San Francisco pitching. Alex Guerrero hit a home run and Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner each hit home runs as the Dodgers scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed three hits and two runs while striking out nine over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Chris hatcher took the loss. For Thursday’s game the Dodgers start Michael Bolsinger who was with Arizona last season where he allowed 66 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 48 over 52.1 innings for a 1-6 record and a 5.50 ERA.
San Francisco is 2-8 against a right-handed starter, 4-9 against the NL West, and 1-4 in Vogelsong’s last five starts in game three of a series. Los Angeles is 7-3 in their last 10 games, 1-6 in their last seven road games, and 6-2 against a right-handed starter. San Francisco is 5-1 in Vogelsong’s last six starts against Los Angeles.
The Giants just seem to have the Dodgers number at home and I have to go with them to win again here.
