USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants and the Miami Marlins face off on Friday at AT&T Park for game two of their MLB series.

The San Francisco Giants have been playing well of late but it didn’t help them on Thursday as they lost to the Marlins. Brandon Belt had two hits and Angel Pagan and Buster Posey each had hits as the Giants scored two runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tim Hudson allowed 15 hits and six earned runs while striking out three over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-3 for the season. For Friday’s game the Giants start Tim Lincecum who has allowed 26 hits and eight runs while striking out 20 over 30 innings for a 2-2 record and 2.40 ERA.

The Miami Marlins had the bats going on Thursday as they clobbered the Giants in San Francisco. Marcell Ozuna hit a home run and Dee Gordon and Martin Prado each had three hits as the Marlins scored seven runs on 17 hits. Starting pitcher Dan Haren allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 4-1 for the season. For Friday’s game the marlins start Jared Cosart who has allowed 21 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 18 over 30.1 innings for a 1-2 record and a 2.97 ERA.

San Francisco is 5-2 in their last seven games, 5-12 against a right-handed starter, and 16-5 in Lincecum’s last 21 home starts. Miami is 7-2 as an underdog, 4-7 in their last 11 road games, and 1-6 in Cosart’s last seven starts. Miami is 13-3 in their last 16 games in San Francisco.

Miami got the best of it on Thursday but I look for the Giants to bounce back in game two and rally behind Lincecum who has been outstanding this season.

Pick:
San Francisco Giants -128
