MLB | Arizona Diamondbacks (77-70) at Houston Astros (92-54)
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Houston Astros will be continuing their MLB series from Minute Maid Park on Saturday.

In the Friday opener, the D-Backs scored twice in the first and twice in the eighth to hang on for a 4-2 win.

For Saturday’s game, the Diamondbacks will be sending out Zack Godley. In his 163.2 innings and 14-9 mark this season, Godley has a 4.67 ERA with 174 Ks and 70 BBs.

Paul Goldschmidt leads the D-Backs in hitting this season, and he came into this series on 163 hits, 92 runs, 33 homers and 83 RBI. On Friday, Goldschmidt had two hits and a run.

Over on the Houston side, they’re going with Charlie Morton on Saturday. In his 157.0 innings and 14-3 mark this year, Morton has a 3.15 ERA with 188 Ks and 63 BBs.

The Astros’ lead hitter this season is Alex Bregman, who entered this set on 162 hits, 100 runs, 30 homers and 100 RBI. On Friday, Bregman went hitless.

Arizona is 21-9 in their last 30 in game two of a series and 0-5 in their last five Saturday games. The Diamondbacks are 1-4 in Godley’s last five starts and 7-1 in his last eight starts in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Astros are 38-16 in their last 54 in game two of a series and 10-4 in their last 14 Saturday games. Houston is 4-1 in Morton’s last five Saturday starts and 0-4 in his last four starts versus a team with a winning record.

After coughing up six earned to the Mariners, Morton has been okay over his last two starts with five earned in 9.2 innings on 10 hits. As for Godley, he’s given up a total of 21 earned runs over his last five starts and has been really choppy. I’m not super-thrilled with either one of these guys right now, but I think the Astros still have the edge here. Taking the over sounds pretty good too.
