The Baltimore Orioles and the Houston Astros will meet up on the MLB circuit Friday to kick off their series.

Baltimore is coming out of a series versus the Rangers this week. The O’s managed a 12-11 win in game one of that set but fell 2-1 on Wednesday. In the Thursday finale, Baltimore fell in a tough one 4-3.

For Friday’s game, the Orioles will be going with Gabriel Ynoa in the start. Over his 26.2 innings and 0-2 mark so far, Ynoa has a 5.06 ERA with 26 Ks and nine walks.

Over on the Astros’ side, they just finished up versus the Mariners. Houston took wins 4-2 Monday and 11-5 Tuesday but fell in the Wednesday game 14-1. On Thursday, the Astros took a wild 8-7 victory in 14 innings.

For Friday’s matchup, the Astros are going with Gerrit Cole for the start. Across 77.2 innings and a 5-5 record this year, Cole has a 3.94 ERA with 116 Ks and 20 walks.

The Orioles are 14-38 in their last 52 Friday games and 10-43 in their last 53 in game one of a series. The under is 4-0 in Ynoa’s last four starts overall and 4-0 in his last four on grass.

Meanwhile, the Astros are 43-16 in their last 59 in game one of a series and 38-15 in their last 53 Friday games. Houston is 6-1 in Cole’s last seven starts and 4-1 in his last five Friday starts.

Ynoa had some rough outings last month as a reliever, but has looked better in the starting role, with four earned on 10 hits through 9.0 innings.

As for Cole, he’s had a couple of rough ones himself this year, but has consecutive quality starts to his credit right now with 12.0 innings and four earned runs in total there.

When the line is this thick I like to play the dog simply on principle, but with that said I don’t think Baltimore has a shot here unless things go south for Houston in a hurry. Taking the Astros, but staying away.
