The Cleveland Indians and the Houston Astros will continue their MLB series on Saturday.
In the Thursday opener of this set, the Indians eked out a 2-1 win. On Friday, Cleveland kept it going with a big 6-3 win.
For the Saturday game, the Indians will be bringing out Shane Bieber in the start. Over his 23.1 innings and 2-1 mark this year, Bieber has a 3.47 ERA with 25 Ks and seven walks.
Cleveland had some solid offensive performances on Friday, most of them via the home run. Leonys Martin, Francisco Lindor (two) and Carlos Gonzales all went yard for the Indians there.
Over on the Astros’ side, they’re going with Brad Peacock in the start Saturday. Across 21.0 innings and a 2-1 record this season, Peacock has a 4.29 ERA with 17 Ks and six BBs.
In contrast during Friday’s game, none of the Astros hit a homer. Michael Brantley, Yuli Gurriel and Robinson Chirinos each had a pair of hits however.
The Indians are 44-21 in their last 65 in game three of a series and 8-0 in Bieber’s last eight road starts. Cleveland is 4-1 in Bieber’s last five starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Astros are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 18-6 in their last 24 Saturday games. Houston is 1-4 in Peacock’s last five Saturday starts and 4-15 in his last 19 starts with four days’ rest.
Bieber had been running along at a nice clip to start out the season, but hit some blocks in a loss versus the Braves his last time up (five earned on five hits in 2.1 innings).
As for Peacock, this will only be his second start of the year (he had three earned in 5.0 innings in the other one). Seeing as how Peacock probably won’t get past the sixth inning, I’m going with the Indians here.
