The Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros meet up for game two of their three game set from Minute Maid Park in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Twins will look to bounce back after dropping the series opener on Monday by a final score of 4-1. Miguel Sano put up the Twins’ lone run in the loss, while Robbie Grossman added a double and Joe Mauer went 2 for 4. Logan Forsythe, Jorge Polanco, Mitch Garver and Jake Cave each added a base knock to round out the Twins’ offense in the losing effort. Kyle Gibson took the loss, falling to 7-12 this season after allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out five over seven innings of work. Trevor May will start game two and is 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. This will be May’s first career start against Houston.

The Houston Astros will look to look to keep the momentum going after their win in game one on Monday. Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel each had a solo home run while Brian McCann added an RBI and Tyler White chipped in a base hit to cap off Houston’s offense as the ‘Stros put up just four hits as a team in the winning effort. Dallas Keuchel picked up the win after giving up just an unearned run on five hits while striking out six to improve to 11-10 this season. Brad Peacock closed out the 9th for his 3rd save of the year. Justin Verlander will start game two and is 13-9 with a 2.78 ERA and 240 strikeouts this season. In his career, Verlander is 18-9 with a 3.06 ERA and 230 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 1-6 in their last 7 games against the AL West and 16-35 in their last 51 road games while the under is 9-3-1 in their last 13 games following a loss. Houston is 0-5 in Verlander’s last 5 home starts and 10-3 in their last 13 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Minnesota is 3-10 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Houston.

Houston’s offense has woken up and is starting to get prepared for baseball in October while the Twins have been waiting for the end of the season for a couple of months now. Verlander also has lots of experience against the Twins, including holding Miguel Sano and Max Kepler to a combined 2 hits in 23 at-bats. May on the other hand has allowed 7 runs, 6 earned, in just 4.2 innings of work against Houston, so I’ll side with Houston on the run line to get the job done on Tuesday.

Houston -1.5
