|Date & Time||Wednesday September 5, 2018, 8:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Houston Astros -198 / Minnesota Twins +184 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros meet Wednesday in MLB action at Minute Maid Park.
The Minnesota Twins could use a win here in order to snap a four-game losing streak. The Twins have scored seven runs int heir last three games and three or less runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Minnesota Twins have lost five straight games when scoring four or less runs. Eddie Rosario leads the Twins with 154 hits and 74 RBI while Joe Mauer and Max Kepler have combined for 215 hits and 86 RBI. Jake Odorizzi gets the ball, and he is 5-9 with a 4.41 ERA and 144 strikeouts this season. Odorizzi is 3-0 with a 0.72 ERA and 28 strikeouts in his career against the Astros.
The Houston Astros look to stay hot after winning 10 of their last 13 games. The Astros have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in nine of their last 13 games. The Houston Astros have won nine straight games when scoring more than three runs. Alex Bregman leads the Astros with 154 hits and 91 RBI while Jose Altuve and Yuli Gurriel have combined for 272 hits and 118 RBI. Framber Valdez gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 1.26 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. This will be Valdez’s first career game against the Twins.
The Twins are 16-35 in their last 51 road games, 0-5 in Odorizzis last 5 road starts and 0-4 in Odorizzis last 4 starts vs. American League West. The Astros are 5-0 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 50-19 in their last 69 Wednesday games and 44-19 in their last 63 vs. a team with a losing record. The Twins are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Houston, 3-10 in the last 13 meetings and the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
Odorizzi is coming off a pretty solid August and has pitched well enough to win games, but he plays for the Twins, who are having trouble putting runs together during this losing stretch. Valdez has just 14.1 career innings under his belt, but he's been very impressive despite the small sample size and is allowing just a .125 batting average with 10 strikeouts. The Houston Astros are looking a lot like the Houston Astros are supposed to look now that they're healthy. I'm not trying to step in front of this team right now. I'll take the Astros and the RL for better value.
