The Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros will match up once again for MLB action on Saturday.
In the Friday edition of this set, the Astros scored two runs in the seventh inning on the way to a 3-0 victory.
For the Saturday game, the Rangers will be sending out Jesse Chavez in the start. He’s 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA with 13 strikeouts so far.
In the loss Friday, Texas’ hitters could only muster two hits the entire game. Those two his belonged to Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera.
Over on the Astros’ side, they’re going with Gerritt Cole on Saturday. Over his 49.2 innings and 3-4 record overall, Cole has a 4.17 ERA with 74 Ks and 15 BBs.
Houston only got six hits on the night, but made most of them count Friday. All three runs came by way of a solo homer.
The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. The over is 4-0 in the Rangers last four in game three of a series and 8-2 in their last 10 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Astros are 13-3 in Cole’s last 1 home starts and 29-11 in his last 40 starts on grass. Houston is 29-13 in Cole’s last 42 starts and 20-6 in the last 26 Saturday games.
It’s been a mixed bag for Cole so far this year. In his nine starts this year, he’s put up quality outings in seven of them. Trouble is, there are also two not-so-great starts in there; 4.1 innings, nine hits and eight earned in Texas, and his last appearance, which was 6.1 innings, seven hits and four earned (but still a win).
It’ll be interesting to see what type of performance Cole puts in here, but I’m more confident on the Astros in this one.
