|Date & Time||Saturday September 1, 2018, 7:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Kansas City Royals -118 / Baltimore Orioles +108 --- Over/Under: 9.5
The Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals will be continuing their MLB set from Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.
In the Friday opener, the Royals bagged a big-hitting 9-2 victory.
For Saturday’s outing, the Orioles will be going with RHP Dylan Bundy. Across his 140.2 innings and 7-13 record, Bundy has a 5.37 ERA with 147 Ks and 43 BBs.
Adam Jones is the top hitter for the O’s this year, coming into this set on 141 hits, 50 runs, 14 homers and 55 RBI. On Friday, Jones put up one hit.
As for KC, they’ll be sending out Heath Fillmyer on Saturday. In his 51.1 innings and 2-1 record this year, Fillmyer has a 4.21 ERA with 30 Ks and 25 BBs.
Leading the way for the KC offense is Whit Merrifield, who came into this series on 156 hits, 64 runs, 10 homers and 47 RBI. In the opener, Merrifield had two hits, three runs and an RBI.
The Orioles are 16-36 in their last 52 Saturday games and 21-48 in their last 69 in game two of a series. Baltimore is 8-20 in Bundy’s last 28 starts and 0-4 in his last four road starts.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 2-6 in Fillmyer’s last eight starts and 2-6 in his last eight starts on grass. KC is 0-4 in Fillmyer’s last four starts versus a team with a losing record and 14-48 in their last 62 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
It’s been a bad run for Bundy, as he gave up 21 earned over the course of three starts in August, and followed that up with four earned in 5.0 innings against the Yanks his last time up. As for Fillmyer, he’s done a little better over his last four starts (but not much better) and got a win versus the Indians in his last appearance. There’s really not much to like about this game, but I’ll stick with the at-home Royals.
