The ALCS switches to Kauffman Stadium where the Kansas City Royals host the Baltimore Orioles in the ALCS.
The surprising Kansas City Royals defeated Baltimore 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS withthe series heading back to Kauffman Stadium. The starting pitching wasn't good with Yordano Ventura allowing all four runs on five hits and a trio of BB over five frames with four relievers keeping the O's off the board. Mike Moustakas clubbed a solo homer with Eric Hosmer knocking two while Lorenzo Cain went 4-5 with an RBI and two runs. Left hander Wei-Yin Chen gets the ALCS game two start against the Kansas City Royals Saturday. Chen looks to rebound from his ALDS start versus Detroit where he gave up five runs in 3.2 innings of the O's 7-6 victory.
For the second straight night the Orioles relief pitching stumbled with the result being an 0-2 hole in the ALCS. Starter Bud Norris was hit hard with four runs plated on nine hits with Darren O'Day and Zach Britton giving up a run each in the 9th. The Birds totaled nine hits and four bases on balls with Adam Jones leaving the yard and driving in two while Caleb Joseph and Nelson Cruz recording RBI's while Alejandro De Aza scored twice. Kansas City sends Jeremy Guthrie to the hill in game three of the ALCS versus the Baltimore Orioles Monday. Guthries has not appeared in the postseason but was hot to end the year with one run given up the last three times out.
Baltimore is 10-3 in the past 13 versus the American League Central and 18-8 in Chen's last 26 starts versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 in his last five outings against the Central. Kansas City is 8-0 in the last eight contests as an underdog and 4-1 in Guthries last five starts while going 18-6 in his last 24 home starts versus a team with a winning record.Head to head the Orioles are 2-5 in their past seven visits to Kansas City and 0-4 in the last four overall.
Kansas City is clicking on all cylinders and even though Chen has the advantage on the mound I'm not sure stepping in front of the Royals is smart right now. I'm a Baltimore fan and for some reason I am very wary of Kansas City in this one and I fear the worse...
