|Date & Time||Saturday July 7, 2018, 7:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Kansas City Royals +194 / Boston Red Sox -210 --- Over/Under: 9
Over at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals will be picking up their MLB set once again.
In the Friday opener, Boston blasted in eight runs during the first two innings and cruised to a 10-5 win.
For Saturday’s game, the Sox will be rolling out LHP David Price. In his 96.2 innings and 9-6 record this year, Price has a 4.28 ERA with 92 Ks and 33 BBs.
JD Martinez leads the Sox in hitting this year, entering this set on 104 hits, 60 runs, 26 homers and 71 RBI. On Friday, Martinez ripped a two-run homer and plated two runs.
Over on the Royals’ side, they're going with Brad Keller on Saturday. Over 56.0 innings and a 2.09 ERA this year, Keller has a 2-3 record, 33 Ks and 18 BBs.
The Roayls’ top hitter this season is Whit Merrifield, who came into Friday with 92 hits, 34 runs and 27 RBI. In the opener, Merrifield managed two hits and an RBI.
The Sox are 14-4 in their last 18 Saturday games and 9-4 in their last 13 in game two of a series. Boston is also 8-2 in Price’s last 10 starts and 1-4 in hi last five road starts versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 2-7 in their last nine Saturday games and 1-8 in their last nine in game two of a series. KC is also 1-4 in Keller’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five starts versus a team with a winning record.
Price had a nice run of five quality starts going before his last outing versus the Yankees, where he allowed eight earned on nine hits in 3.1 innings. As for Keller, he has three straight quality starts going, allowing four earned in 21.0 innings during that span. This seems like a pretty good pitching matchup, but all in all I have to take the Sox.
