Chicago White Sox (1-0) at Kansas City Royals (0-1)
|Date & Time||Sunday April 1, 2018, 2:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Kansas City Royals -112 / Chicago White Sox +102 --- Over/Under: 9
Out at Kauffman Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals will be finishing up their MLB series.
In Thursday’s game, the Sox scored a high-flying 14-7 victory. On Saturday, things were a little closer 4-3 but still a Chicago victory.
For the Sunday game, the Sox will be bringing out RHP Reynaldo Lopez. In his eight starts and 3-3 record last season, Lopez put up a 4.72 ERA with 49 hits and 25 earned across 47.2 innings.
In the Thursday matchup, Matt Davidson was the breakout star for the White Sox, bagging three homers, four runs and five RBI. On Saturday, Welington Castillo ripped a double and put up two RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re rolling with RHP Jason Hammel on Sunday. In his 32 starts and 180.1 innings last year, Hammel managed an 8-13 record, a 5.29 ERA and 106 earned runs.
Heading into the weekend, both Mike Moustakas and Drew Butera had two hits apiece, with three runs, one RBI and two doubles between them. In the Saturday game, Lucas Duda managed two RBI.
The White Sox are 6-1 in their last seven during game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games. Chicago is also 4-0 in Lopez’s last four starts and 4-1 in his last five starts vs. the American League Central.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 1-5 in their last six during game three of a series and 4-1 in Hammel’s last five in game three of a series. The under is 5-2 in KC’s last seven in game three of a series and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games.
There’s not a whole lot of intrigue overall between these two teams, but the pitching matchup here should be a pretty decent one. The Sox hold a short-term advantage in head-to-head matchups here, but are getting creamed longer-term at KC. In any case, I like Lopez to give a few good innings here and guide the Sox to a win.
