Kansas City Royals -115 / Chicago White Sox +105
The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet in game one of their three game AL Central division set in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Friday night.
The Chicago White Sox will look to bounce back after being swept in their two game interleague set with Washington following a 6-4 loss in game two last time out. Jose Abreu had a home run and two RBIs while going 2 for 4 at the dish. Welington Castillo and Yoan Moncada each had a solo home run to round out Chicago’s scoring as a team in the losing effort. Leury Garcia went 2 for 5 at the dish while Eloy Jimenez, Charlie Tilson, Tim Anderson and Jose Rondon each had base hits as well in the defeat. Dylan Covey allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out four over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Alex Colome took the loss, falling to 2-1 on the year. Ivan Nova will start game one and is 3-5 with a 6.24 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nova is 2-1 with a 4.85 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Kansas City.
The Kansas City Royals will look to rebound and snap a six game losing streak after losing 12 of their last 14 games following a 7-5 loss in their series finale against Boston on Thursday. Jorge Soler went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs while Alex Gordon and Cheslor Cuthbert each added solo home runs as well in the loss. Billy Hamilton went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to round out KC’s scoring as a team in the defeat. Nicky Lopez went 2 for 4 with a double while Cam Gallagher had two hits and Whit Merrifield added a base hit of his own as well in the losing effort. Danny Duffy took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the year after allowing four runs on four hits over 2.1 innings of work. Homer Bailey will start game one and is 4-6 with a 6.05 ERA and 52 strikeouts this season. This will be Bailey’s second career start against the White Sox.
Chicago is 5-2 in Nova’s last 7 starts and 0-5 in their last 5 road games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 division games. Kansas City is 0-4 in Bailey’s last 4 starts and 1-7 in their last 8 home games while the over is 21-7-1 in their last 29 home games against a right-handed starter. Chicago is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Bailey threw 4.1 innings against the White Sox allowing just one run, but the White Sox still swept that series and are 6-3 against the Royals this season. Bailey has also allowed four or more runs in three of his last four starts. Nova has had his own ups and downs this year, but the White Sox are easily playing the better baseball right now and getting the better team at plus money is always a great way to increase your bankroll, so I’ll take Chicago and the plus money on Friday.
