The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals will meet up on the MLB diamond Tuesday to continue their series.
In game one of this set Monday, KC scored twice in the fourth inning and led the rest of the way in a 5-2 win.
For the Tuesday game, the White Sox will send out Dylan Cease in the start. Over his 5.0 innings and 1-0 record this year, Cease has a 5.40 ERA with six Ks and four walks.
Chicago put up eight hits and one error on Monday in the loss. Leading the way was Jon Jay, who went 4-for-4 but was blanked in runs and RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Glenn Sparkman on Tuesday. Across 64.1 innings and a 2-5 record so far, Sparkman has a 5.18 ERA with 34 Ks and 17 BBs.
The Royals put up 10 hits in total on Monday with a pair of errors. Three Kansas City batters each logged two hits, and Nicky Lopez had two RBI as well.
The White Sox are 15-36 in their last 51 Tuesday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series. The over is 7-2 in the Sox’ last nine in game two of a series as well.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 8-21 in their last 29 in game two of a series and 2-6 in Sparkman’s last eight starts. KC is 2-5 in Sparkman’s last seven starts on grass and the over is 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games.
Cease has just the one start to judge from this season, but that one came off pretty well. He allowed three earned on four hits in 5.0 innings at home versus the Tigers in a 7-5 Sox win.
As for Sparkman, he’s been pretty sketchy lately with 17 earned over his last three starts in 14.2 innings.
If Chicago can get on Sparkman early and give Cease a little bit of a cushion I like the White Sox here, but it’s a bit of a dice roll.
