Kansas City Royals +156 / Cleveland Indians -166 O/U: 9
The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals will kick off their MLB series on Tuesday.
The Indians are coming out of a set against the Orioles this past weekend. Cleveland was drilled 13-0 in each of the first two games of that set, but stopped the sweep with a 2-0 win on Sunday.
For Tuesday’s game, the Indians will be sending out Trevor Bauer in the start. Over 119.0 innings and a 6-6 record this year, Bauer has a 3.55 ERA with 134 Ks and 47 BBs.
Over on the Royals’ side, they just finished up against the Blue Jays. KC managed a win on Sunday 7-6, but lost Friday 6-2, Saturday 7-5 and Monday 11-4.
Kansas City is sending out Jakob Junis for the start on Tuesday. In 94.2 innings and a 4-7 record this year, Junis has a 5.23 ERA with 88 Ks and 34 BBs.
Cleveland is 8-1 in their last nine versus the AL Central and 6-1 in the last seven after an off day. The Indians are 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games and 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games and 6-2 in Junis’ last eight Tuesday starts. KC is 3-7 in Junis’ last 10 starts and 1-4 in his last five home starts.
Bauer has been solid overall during his last four games, with three of those outings being quality starts. (The other was a no-decision at home against the Tigers; five earned in 4.0 innings.)
As for Junis, he had a string of three starts with two earned allowed in each, but lost his last appearance with 6.0 innings, nine hits and four earned.
The Indians are coming off an ugly showing versus Baltimore and really need to get the bats going. Assuming they can do that, I like the Indians with Bauer on the mound here.
