Kansas City Royals +145 / Cleveland Indians -155 O/U: 9.5
The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals will meet up on the MLB diamond Wednesday.
In the Tuesday edition of this set, the Indians powered out a 9-5 win after pouring in five runs in the third.
For Wednesday’s game, the Indians will be sending out Mike Clevinger in the start. Over 18.1 innings and a 1-2 mark so far, Clevinger has a 5.89 ERA with 31 Ks and 10 BBs.
Cleveland had some great offensive performances among their 13 hits Tuesday. Jake Bauers was one of them with his four hits and three RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Danny Duffy in the start Wednesday. Across 69.0 innings and a 3-4 mark so far, Duffy has a 4.43 ERA with 58 Ks and 24 BBs.
The KC offense was no slouch Tuesday either, with 12 total hits. Leading the way there was Whit Merrifield with three hits and a run.
The Indians are 4-0 in Clevinger’s last four starts in game two of a series and 35-16 in their last 51 Wednesday games. Cleveland is 1-4 in Clevinger’s last five road starts and 2-5 in his last seven road starts versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 0-6 in their last six Wednesday games. and 1-4 in Duffy’s last five starts on grass. KC is 7-19 in their last 26 in game two of a series and 1-5 in Duffy’s last six starts.
Following a couple good starts early in the year, Clevinger has hit some stumbles over his last couple of games and is coming off a sprained ankle. He’s 0-2 with 12 earned in 6.1 innings in his last two starts.
As for Duffy, he’s sitting on consecutive quality starts, though it’s also worth noting that he hasn’t gotten a win since May 19.
I’m not thrilled about either starter here, but Duffy has been good enough to make me think he’ll put KC in position to get one.
