The Line: Kansas City Royals +212 / Cleveland Indians -230 --- Over/Under: 9
Headed our way on Wednesday from Kauffman Stadium, the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals will be finishing up their MLB set.
The Indians took game one of this series 9-3, then on Tuesday the Indians were able to score four times in the sixth on the way to a 6-4 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Indians will be bringing out RHP Trevor Bauer. In his 113.2 innings and 7-6 record this year, Bauer has a 2.45 ERA with 148 Ks and 36 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Indians this season is Francisco Lindor, who came into Tuesday with 101 hits, 73 runs, 23 homers and 55 RBI. In game two, Lindor had two hits and a run.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Ian Kennedy on Wednesday. Across 91.2 innings and a 1-8 record this season, Kennedy has a 5.11 ERA with 84 Ks and 33 BBs.
Leading the way for the Royals’ offense this season is Whit Merrifield, with 90 hits, 33 runs and 25 RBI coming into game two. On Tuesday, Merrifield had a hit, a run and an RBI.
The Indians are 16-5 in the last 21 Wednesday games and 36-17 in their last 63 in game three of a series. Cleveland is also 4-1 in Bauer’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 3-8 in his last 11 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 19-40 in their last 59 in game three of a series and 3-9 in their last 12 Wednesday games. KC is also 7-21 in Kennedy’s last 28 starts and 0-4 in his last four home starts.
Bauer has been really solid lately, as he’s got five straight quality starts and has gone at least 6.1 innings in each of those. As for Kennedy, he’s allowed 10 earned over his last three starts in 18.0 innings and is 0-2 in that span to show for it. I’m going to stick with the trends here and go with the Indians to take the Wednesday victory.
